LINKS CLUB, RIPPLE TOWN — Gene Yuss’ dominant run as the Links Club’s top champ will continue for another year, as the celebrated golfer has once again trounced the competition to win the annual Links Club Championship Tournament.
The biggest threats to Yuss’ win came in the form of Tiny, a regular fixture at Desert Hill’s Dune Club, and Kid, a young up-and-comer who trains at the Marion Club. However, Yuss’ 13-under-par score on the third and final morning of the tournament was too big to overcome.
“I’m the best there is at what I do, and what I do is hit a small ball into a tiny hole from a very long distance,” Yuss said, when asked to reflect on his eighth straight Links Club victory. “Honestly, it’s not a useful skill, but it’s what I’m good at. Might as well make the best of it!”
